What better way to celebrate the start of spring, than with a lil’ floral eye candy courtesy the annual Orchid Show in Jacksonville. A few weekends ago, the Jacksonville Orchid Society presented their annual Orchid Show and Sale – a collection of various orchid species grown by local members, as well as participating vendors selling orchids, plants, and supplies.
The orchids displayed at the show ranged from a wide variety of sublime colors, shapes, and sizes. There were about twenty different orchid varieties present at the show – the primary species being (*click through each image for more info on the species):
Both amateur growers and society members displayed their orchids, with the opportunity to compete in the show for certificates and awards of excellence. While I'm sure the competition was fierce, we were just tryna see some pretty orchids. And indeed we did! That + rage way too hard on buying orchids and other planting supplies (i.e. Elizabeth Georges). Bull all worth it! It's funny, because to us it was such a casual afternoon spent, obvs filled with some of the most beautiful flowers we've seen up close to date – but yet, senior citizens are buzzing about this aged rec hall, as if they've been waiting all year for this single event.
